Blythe is an independent filmmaker based in Stoke-on-Trent working in digital moving image. Her films include experimental shorts and documentaries. She is interested in observing industrial processes and the personal relationships in workplaces, whose working environments are viewed as alien and oppressive. Blythe takes influence from Marxist theory and the alienation felt from the exclusion of democratic decisions amongst workplaces and how this manifests itself amongst the working class. Blythe’s previous work has explored the coal mining industry, using different techniques to document the process and the narrative of former coal miners.

Her current work is built around a BT telecoms building where rare Peregrine falcons nest on the roof and fledge their young. This will be an experimental short observing the activity around the building and the significance of the birds as they establish themselves once more in the city centre.
