This Fabulous new SPODE ROSE GARDEN TEA TOWEL - illustrated by Rebecca Davies - will be your perfect Kitchen Companion - and act as a reminder of the beauty of our loved garden space in Stoke Town.
Rebecca's design work maps out all the important and iconic elements of the Garden in 2022 - from Rita Floyd.s ceramic rose centrepiece, to Jo Mill's brand new Terracotta installation in our second border - and picks out all of our significant plants.
Made from a heavyweight ORGANIC NATURAL PANAMA cotton, measuring 69cm x 47cm, this towel could be framed and hung as an artwork, but is functional too - machine washable, it will ensure that all your washed pots are dried to perfection.
Your towel can be purchased here via paypal - where there will be a small additional cost to cover postage and packing. ALL profits from sales will go back into the Garden and help ensure the space is maintained and kept blooming throughout the year.
Rebecca Davies is from London and lives in Stoke On Trent. She has a deeply embedded and collaborative practice that crosses illustration, design, performance and event.
She studied illustration at Glasgow School of Art and graduated from the RCA Communication Art & Design course in 2010, receiving the Sheila Robinson Prize for Drawing. In 2013 she was made an Artsadmin Associate Artist. She has run participation projects with Turner Contemporary, Tate, South London Gallery, and was lead artist of the Whitechapel Gallery Community Workshops for 3 years. Her project, The Oasis Social Club, represented Great Britain at the 2015 Mons European Capital of Culture before completing a UK tour. Rebecca set up Peoples' Bureau with Eva Sajovic, an associate of Tate Exchange. Their film Unearthing Elephant received the AHRC award for Research in film, 2017.
Rebecca and artist Anna Francis set up The Portland Inn Project CIC in 2016 in a residential area of Stoke on Trent, working in collaboration with other artists, arts organisations and residents to improve their community and renovate an old pub building. The project advocates for people led change, and champions the importance of art in leading that change, and in cooperation with public services.

THE SPODE ROSE GARDEN - During the British Ceramics Biennial 2013, AirSpace Gallery renovated a slice of the garden, attached to the Spode China Hall, off Kingsway, Stoke, to act as a physical proposal for the renovation of the entire space. Then, in 2015, we returned to renovate a new segment, plus introduce over 30 newly developed real Spode China Roses to the site. The proposition's intent was meant as an example of what could be the future for the space, and was meant as a way of gathering support and interest to raise the funding and resources and build the necessary partnerships to see the full space renovated by 2017.
Now, having been fully open to the public since 2017, The Spode Rose Garden is moving onto its next phase - a continuing multi-faceted development project entitled THE LIVING GARDEN, delivered by Anna Francis.
